Student Scholarship Award Winners – 2008

At the meeting on April 16th, 2008, Northwest Chapter awarded $2500 to two graduate students from the University of Wisconsin – Stout and one graduate student from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Also, a one of the Northwest Chapter scholarship recipients was awarded the George Gustafson HSE Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2500. The George Gustafson HSE Memorial Scholarship is a national scholarship from the Society of ASSE.

Chad Stuart – Northwest Chapter Scholarship Winner - $1000

Mr. Stuart will graduate with a Master of Science – Risk Control in May of 2008, holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction from the University of Wisconsin – Stout respectively. Mr. Stuart also holds a Carpentry Apprenticeship as a Registered Journeyman Carpenter through the Carpenter’s Union Local 314. Mr. Stuart has worked as an EHS consultant for Wingra Construction, LLC, Semiconductor Environmental Health & Safety Association, and Norlake, Inc. He also has worked as a Safety Intern for Weyerhauser and a Carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union Local 314. Mr. Stuart has also served in Iraq as an Army Infantry Scout for the United States Army’s 3rd Infantry Division 32nd Brigade 1-128th Infantry Battalion HQ Company.

Keith Mullen – Northwest Chapter Scholarship Winner - $1000

Mr. Mullen will graduate with a Master of Environmental, Health, and Safety from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in May of 2008 and holds undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, and Applied Mathematics. Mr. M ullen has worked as a Bioenvironmental Engineer Journeyman with the 148th Air National Guard – Duluth, MN. Mr. Mullen has also worked as a Cooperative Intern for Eka Chemicals – Duluth, MN. Mr. Mullen’s career statement as a Safety Professional is “Apply my knowledge and experience as an engineer in the field of environmental health and safety. Specifically, I am looking for a fulfilling career in the field of industrial hygiene.”

Cody Davidowski – George Gustafson HSE Memorial Scholarship ($2500) & Northwest Chapter Scholarship ($500) Winner

Mr. Davidowski will graduate with a Master of Science – Risk Control from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in May of 2008, he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and a Minor in Safety & Health Protection from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Mr. Davidowski has worked as a Safety Intern with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation – Green Bay, WI, Warehouse Coordinator and Risk Control consultant for Northern Welding Supply – Wausau, WI and as a Risk Control consultant for Genesis Industries – Elmwood, WI.

 

Length of Service Awards – 2008

At the meeting on April 16th, 2008 25-Year ASSE service awards were presented to members David Downs and Ralph Weber. Also, a 40-Year ASSE service award was presented to Fellow member Bob Vandenberg. Other 25 Year recipients that were not present include Michael Dvorak, Patricia Hansen, Michael Holmquist, Craig Lueck, Kevin Scholfield, Jim Collins, Keith Husby, Daryl Korpela, Dale Peleski, and Tom Udelhoven.
